Old Dominion University Alumni Association

smiling graduate

The Old Dominion University Alumni Association serves its over 150,000 members, connecting Monarchs worldwide with one another and the University. All ODU graduates receive automatic membership as well as services exclusively for alumni.

By helping alumni remain informed, involved, and engaged, the ODUAA supports our members, the Monarch community and Old Dominion University.

The Association is governed by the Board of Directors, which consists of Old Dominion graduates. Alumni on the Board of Directors are nominated by their classmates and are appointed by current Board members to serve up to two consecutive three-year terms.

Support

The day-to-day operations of Old Dominion University depend on consistent, reliable support from people like you. Annual donations fund important initiatives such as scholarships, student activities and classroom materials. Your annual gift plays a vital role in helping ODU improve academic excellence, enrich the undergraduate and graduate experience, build new research and academic facilities, and give each student a memorable college journey.

ODU Alumni Association Merit Scholarship

The Alumni Association's premier scholarship is awarded annually to exceptional students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement. Five recipients are chosen as entering freshmen, and may renew their scholarship for four years if they maintain the required GPA. Thanks to the support received from alumni and community leaders for the annual golf tournament and the annual Alumni Honors Dinner, in the Fall of 2015 there will be 29 of these scholarships awarded.

Ronald L. Horne Scholarship

The annual scholarship, named for the University’s first black undergraduate, provides funds for undergraduate students attending ODU. The scholarship is funded by donations from alumni and friends of the Black Alumni Chapter.

ODU Alumni Association Legacy Scholarship

There are many indicators of a university’s maturity: expanded degree programs, growth in both facilities and enrollment, and an ever-increasing academic reputation. Another sure sign of its “coming of age” is the growing number of legacies – the children of alumni who have followed in their families’ academic footsteps. To celebrate this coming of age, the ODUAA has established its Legacy Scholarship. The newest of the ODUAA scholarship program, the Legacy Scholarship was established in 2014 is aimed at those students with family history embedded in the University in hopes that they will continue their academic journeys at ODU.
